Pathways to Achievement: Juvenile Development Leadership Academy

P.A.J.D. is a youth leadership development program created to reach youth at the highest risk of involvement with the juvenile justice system across Saginaw County.

The program provides structured prevention and early intervention services for youth ages 12–17 through leadership building, life skills training, employment readiness, mentorship, and evidence-based support.

We build positive pathways and connect young people to caring adults, opportunities, and community resources.

Key factors are considered:

  • Behavioral Problematic Expression
  • Academic Performance & Attendance
  • Environmental Factors
  • Incidence with Law Enforcement

Customized Training

The HELP C.V.I. The Pre-Arrest Juvenile Diversion Program (PAJD) has continued to provide youth in the Saginaw community with structured leadership development, mentorship, and positive alternatives to justice system involvement. Throughout the program, students engaged in curriculum focused on leadership skills, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, communication, financial literacy, career readiness, college and trade school preparation, and goal setting. Youth also completed worksheets, vision boards, team-building activities, and career exploration exercises designed to help them build confidence and prepare for long-term success.

In addition to the classroom based work, The Pre-Arrest Juvenile Diversion Program emphasized relationship building and community engagement outside of school grounds. During late January and early February, staff picked up students to basketball sessions, shared meals together following activities, and safely returned students home afterward. These outings created opportunities for mentorship, trust-building, and positive peer interaction in supportive environments.
